The research centre in the valley of the Orontes was inaugurated on August 30, 2007 in the presence of Minister of Culture, the Governor of Homs and the Director-General of Antiquities and Museums with a massive participation of institutions and Syrian and Foreign missions . The building, constructed in the begining of the previous century by a beyrouthine family , is characterized by a stone architecture Mediterranean style. The presence of the three floors has helped to organize several types of activities: the ground floor is devoted to the reception and the public presentation and the 2nd and 3rd floor hase a library, a meeting room and five offices . This organization will, as early as May, hosting Syrian archaeologists, french, German and Italian scientists for various events concerning the region.
The centre should maintain the archives of the Syrian mission Mishirfeh / Qatna and we hope to create a piece for also keeping the records of the activities carried out in central Syria with the aim of facilitating their access to researchers.
